: Plot Overview The film takes its cues from two prominent arcs of the manga: the “Shinsengumi Crisis” arc and the “Farewell Shinsengumi” arc. It revolves around the dysfunctional yet lovable Odd Jobs trio—Gintoki Sakata (Shun Oguri), Shinpachi Shimura (Masaki Suda), and Kagura (Kanna Hashimoto)—as they navigate a chaotic world where samurai and aliens coexist. The story focuses on internal conflict within the Shinsengumi, a police force, as their commander Kondo Isao (Kankuro Nakamura) is ousted due to a coup led by Ito Kamotaro (Haruma Miura).
